With Canada’s 150th birthday just two months away, Mississauga businesses and residents are hopping on the celebration train!
Erin Mills Town Centre unveils an art installation and contest today as part of its Canada 150 celebrations.
The mall invites residents of all ages to the upper level, near centre court, for the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind Canada 150 art installation designed by local Canada 150 art contest finalist, Nargiza Asminova.
The reveal will take place today at 2p.m. and will be on display for two months leading up to Canada Day celebrations. Today’s event also kicks off the Erin Mills Town Centre Canada 150 Faces of Canada contest taking place from May 1-31.
“Erin Mills Town Centre is thrilled to unveil a beautiful Canada 150 art installation to the community. Not only does this art installation pay tribute to our country’s past, present and future, but it also celebrates the unwavering talent of our local art community,” said Francesca Bourré, the Marketing Director for Erin Mills Town Centre.
As part of the Canada 150 Faces of Canada contest, shoppers are encouraged to take a picture with the installation and post it to their personal social media channels using the hashtag #FacesOfErinMillsTC to be entered for a chance to win a grand prize consisting of a trip for two to any city in Canada with a six-night stay provided by the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
In addition to the art unveiling and Canada 150 Faces of Canada contest, Erin Mills Town Centre is selling limited-edition, custom designed Canada 150 shopping centre gift cards and gift card pouches.
For every Canada 150 gift card of $50 or more sold, Erin Mills Town Centre is donating $1 to the Wounded Warriors, a foundation that assists a registered charitable organization dedicated to supporting our Canadian Armed Forces Military Members, Veterans, First Responders and their Families overcome the challenges of PTSD.
“It wouldn’t be a true Canadian celebration if we didn’t give back in one way or another, which is why we are honoured to work with Wounded Warriors Canada to raise awareness and funds that directly support Wounded Warriors Canada,” added Bourré.
