Series from celebrated Ontario showrunner premiering next year

A new TV series from one of Ontario’s most celebrated showrunners is filming in the province soon.

Jared Keeso, best known for creating and starring in series such as Letterkenny and Shorsey, is set to launch production on a new TV comedy titled I Kill the Bear.

The premise, according to an official release by Bell Media, revolves around a family of animal wranglers who specialize in acquiring live bears for film and TV productions, who have grown disillusioned with the job and are planning an exit.

Alongside Keeso, major Canadian film, TV, and pop culture alumni are anticipated to join the cast, including Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, the UFC’s George St-Pierre, and Jonathan Torrens from Trailer Park Boys — just to name a few.

Filming is anticipated to start in Sudbury, ON, with a scheduled 2026 premiere date on the streaming service Crave.
