Closure: Street food restaurant closed in Mississauga

An upscale street food restaurant in Mississauga has shut down.

The restaurant, Plancha, a Mediterranean joint in Square One, was known for offering “educated street food.” It’s opening dining bar was an institution in the mall’s food district since its inception.

Plancha was renowned for its food including their wealth of vegetarian options. The restaurant held a more than 4.5 star rating on Google with praise for the food described by one as “my favourite Mediterranean food in the GTA.” Others hailed it as the best food in Square One while another said the food belonged in an upscale restaurant all its own saying, “The fact that it’s in a mall is crazy.”

However, nearly two years after its 2021 opening Plancha quietly shut down in April. Reviewers online noted the closure without any official announcement from the restaurant with some arriving to find the place shuttered.

Plancha could not be reached for comment and Square One has yet to announce what could fill the restaurant’s former home.
