A pizzeria like no other is closing its doors in Toronto.
Mamajoun, an Armenian pizzeria in Scarborough, has taken to Instagram to announce its closure after 11 years in operation.
The location was well known for dynamic culinary takes, often using regional Armenian ingredients that made the pies from Mamajoun not only delicious but also stand out against the busy backdrop of Toronto’s pizza scene.
Beyond their knockout pizza, the location also excelled at providing other Armenian staples, such as flatbreads, baba ghanouj and more.

“Unfortunately, today was Mamajoun’s last day. We’re sorry we couldn’t share the news sooner,” read the Instagram post.
The post went on to thank the Scarborough community for making Mamajoun an iconic staple of the area, for both neighbours and people making the drive from across the GTA.
While this does mark the loss of another iconic landmark pizzeria in Toronto, the post did share some hopeful news.
“This is not goodbye — it’s simply see you later,” concluded the post, teasing a new concept and location from the team in the future.
What that will be, however, is too early to tell, but for now, Toronto has lost another icon.
