The sixth annual Emancipation Art Exhibition is now on display at the Helson Gallery in Halton Hills.

The show is put on in partnership with the Halton Black History Awareness Society and explores and celebrates freedom through the perspectives of Black artists.

Artworks that best reflect and articulate the Black experience have been selected for awards through a juried process and will be announced soon.

“This art exhibition in partnership with the Halton Black History Awareness Society is a wonderful way to recognize the 189th year of emancipation,” said Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor.

“I’m proud the Helson Gallery features such meaningful artworks for the community.”

The exhibition features more than 20 artists exhibiting in a variety of mediums, and is on view in the Helson Gallery and the Sisnett Lobby of the Cultural Centre until Aug. 27.

The Helson Gallery is located at 9 Church St., Halton Hills, and is open Wednesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
