Another beloved pizza spot to close in Toronto, teases something new

Another Toronto pizza spot is riding off into the sunset.

Big Trouble Pizza, an institution for exceptional pizza and smash burgers on Geary, which tapped into the sprawling comfort food market of the city, has announced that it will have its final day of service at the end of this month.

Taking to Instagram yesterday for the announcement, the esteemed pizzeria and burger joint announced that, after eight years, and calling several neighbourhoods home, Big Trouble will be closing its doors on Jan. 31.

Famous for their ‘Butter Jam Jam’ pizza, built on a foundation of butter cream sauce and raspberry jam, as well as their ‘Kung Finghi,’ loaded with sauteed mushrooms and truffle oil, fans of Big Trouble only have a little under a week to send off the location in style.

However, while this is the end of almost a decade-long era, proprietors of the location teased that while Big Trouble may be closing, something even bigger is potentially on its way.

“With that being said, we are working on a new project. It’s something that we’ve been focusing more and more on over the last couple of months. What’s coming is something we are enthusiastic and passionate about,” read the Instagram post.

While what is on its way to replace Big Trouble remains to be seen, if the last couple of years have been any kind of standard, it’ll truly be something special.

Big Trouble Pizza can be found at 191 Geary Ave.
