Beloved children's bookstore closes after 40 years in Toronto

A beloved children’s bookstore is closing down after almost 40 years.

Several posts on Instagram on behalf of the Midtown bookstore Mable’s Fabless, which has been in operation since 1988, stated that the location has shuttered its doors.

Those who frequented this long community staple knew it as one of Toronto’s most cherished and accessible independent community bookstores.

However, further details provided throughout the posts, as well as multiple sources, indicated that this literary staple of the GTA will not be having its final chapter just yet.

While the store shut its original doors on Aug. 23, Mable’s Fables intends to relocate to a new location on Mount Pleasant Rd. and Belsize Dr., just a little bit due south of the original location.

The post stated that, while the remainder of the summer will have to do without the community hub for just a bit, they intend to open in their new home, a few weeks from now, in Sept.
