The Town of Wasaga Beach, known to feature the world’s largest freshwater beach, dialling in at 14 km, has just unveiled its ‘Mobile Tourist Information Centre.’
Sporting a 70s-inspired look, the info centre on wheels has been launched in tandem with major revitalisation plans implemented by the provincial government to turn the celebrated Ontario hotspot into a national must-see.
Nearly $40 million has been supplied by the province to give the long stretch of summertime real estate a new look and feel, including plans to rebuild the storied Nancy Island Historic Site, a 3,000-home development, and major plans to revitalise the town’s downtown core.
“This is a game-changer for our tourism strategy,” said Brian Smith, Mayor of Wasaga Beach, in an official statement. “It gives us the flexibility to bring Wasaga Beach directly to visitors, highlight our vibrant business community, and encourage people to come experience all that our town has to offer.”
Other massive attractions scheduled to arrive in the town over the next few years also include a sprawling $45 million Marriott hotel.
As a result of all the new additions on their way to this beloved beachfront, the new mobile tourist centre serves as a hub for maps, guides, and updates on upcoming events, such as the upcoming Memories of Summer event scheduled for this upcoming long weekend.
