Another season of Winter Wonders complete at Hamilton-Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens

The six-week run of the annual Winter Wonders season ended Sunday, with thousands of enchanted visitors celebrating the magic of the season at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The 2,400-acre gardens and nature sanctuary, which straddles the Hamilton-Burlington border, welcomed residents and those who had travelled from across the GTA and the Golden Horseshoe to Canada’s largest botanical garden and Hendrie Park, where the picturesque pathways adorned with festive lights, interactive installations and displays tell the stories of unique winter wonders.

Visitors strolled through the garden to the rhythm of festive music while indulging in the tastes and fragrances of the season.

The six week-plus run of Winter Wonders from November 23 to January 5 featured the Botanical Train Display, with planters made from nearly 700 kgs of cedar filled with 2,500 plants creating the backdrop for seven model train lines; the indoor displays at the Breezeway and the brightly lit Mediterranean Gardens; and interactive installations, including the ‘Singing Tree.

Visitors were able to nosh at the Rock Garden Bistro, the Turner Pavilion Teahouse in the Rose Garden and the Greenhouse Café.

The Royal Botanical Gardens officials thanked their sponsors all who attended the event and helped to illuminate.
