Airbnb Smurfs holiday experience offered in European travel destination

A European vacation could include a Smurfs experience for one lucky family this summer.
Airbnb is inviting two families to join a bookable Smurfs Experience in Belgium in August.
The family will experience life as a Smurf for the day in the Belgian woods – the origin of the iconic blue characters. The Smurfs, once a popular television series in the 1980s leading to movie spin-offs, were created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo (pen name of Pierre Culliford) in 1958. They started out as supporting characters in an already established series, and began their own series in 1959.
This summer, the charming blue characters return in Smurfs, a movie from Paramount Animation.
The Airbnb Smurfs experience is an immersive, four-hour outing where Nicolas Tytgat—grandson of The Smurfs creator Peyo—will guide guests through the world of the Smurfs.
Taking place on one day only, Sunday Aug. 3, the experience includes several activities.
Guests enter the forest and arrive outside Papa Smurf’s mushroom house, try a “Smurfberry drink”, make their own Smurf hat, explore the forest surroundings and practice woodland archery with the host, feast on a Smurf-inspired picnic including blue Smurfberry cakes and french fries (Smurfette’s favourite snack), and try a dance routine from the new movie.

“We’re so excited to bring The Smurfs back to the Belgian countryside – the place that inspired Peyo all those years ago – as part of our completely reimagined experiences,” said Clement Eulry, general manager of France and Benelux at Airbnb. “The experience is a unique way to showcase Belgium’s beauty at a time when families are looking to unplug and connect with nature.”
The exclusive experience will be available for two families, for two separate four-hour sessions on Aug. 3. Guests can book this experience on July 16 12 p.m. (Central European Summer Time) at airbnb.com/smurfsmovie for $0. The experience is designed for up to four guests, is completely free of charge, and includes all activities and treats.
Travel to the experience is not included, and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
