It’s not exactly dinner.
But it’s something.
Recently, the owners behind the acclaimed Lake Inez restaurant in Toronto’s Little India neighbourhood announced the opening of Belle Isle, a new bar “named after a holy sliver of land in Detroit.”
In a post on Instagram, the owners of Lake Inez say the new venture–a labour of love and pain–isn’t easy to define. In fact, they acknowledge that they don’t know quite what Belle Isle is yet–other than that it’s definitely not dinner.
That said, there will be food, as the post mentions that diners can pair their libations with snacks and treats. The most recent story shared on Belle Isle’s Instagram account shows a neat and tidy hoagie that looks both elegant and satisfying.
As far as those aforementioned libations go, the owners say guests can enjoy cocktails, “some wine,” and new and familiar faces.
Reservations are not being accepted at this time, according to the post.
In the post, the owners ask people to give the new concept a try.
“Show up with an open mind cause, as the great George Clinton once wrote, ‘if you free your mind, your ass will follow.’’
The bar is open from 5 p.m. until midnight on Gerrard Street East, half a block away from Lake Inez.
