Although almost all Christmas and holiday-themed activities are fun, some offer a more personal, unique and artisanal touch–and the opportunity to buy a truly one of a kind gift for a loved one.

If you like to help out local artisans, you might want to head to Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) at Riverwood (4170 Riverwood Park Lane), as the arts organization is about to launch the festive season with its annual Holiday Artisan Marketplace.

The event will feature the creative works of over 20 artists and artisans, a café by The Social Cupcake, treats and more.

The event will kick off on Saturday, November 11 and run through Sunday, November 12. The market will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both days.

Admission is free.

“Our Holiday Artisan Marketplace offers an inspired shopping opportunity,” says Eldiana Begovic, event coordinator. “Our event showcases high-quality art and handmade gifts including smaller paintings, fashion items, jewellery, woodwork textiles, sculpture, glass, crafts and more. Freshly baked holiday goodies will be available for purchase to make your visit even more delightful. Attending the event is a great way to support local artisans while getting a head-start on your holiday shopping”.

VAM’s Holiday Artisan Marketplace will be one of the first artisan crafters shows of the 2017 season presented in the Greater Toronto Area.

Beyond offering a plethora of handcrafted goods, the event also allows attendees to explore VAM’s art centre and meet and interact with local artists.
