Heated Rivalry fans are taking inspiration from the show’s infamous “Cottage” episode and planning romantic getaways.
The Canadian series tells the love story of hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov and is based on a series of romance novels by Nova Scotia’s Rachel Reid. The Crave original series also airs on HBO Max in the U.S.
In the month since the now-infamous “Cottage” episode aired on Dec. 26, Airbnb searches increased by nearly 90 per cent in Muskoka compared to the same time period last year, Airbnb said.
“The Cottage” is the sixth and final episode of the first season and was filmed in Muskoka Lakes, using a private cottage designed by Toronto-based architect Trevor McIvor.
Airbnb said they have seen a similar uptick in interest in Quebec properties.
“Ontario and Quebec have quietly become the internet’s favourite cold-weather escape,” Airbnb said.
The company put together a list of some of the best cottage stays with features such as fireplaces, hot tubs, ski access, and just enough seclusion to lean into a little friendly rivalry.
