Now that the blazing summer heat is here, everyone is looking for a way to cool down.
And what’s one good way to cool off while still having fun? Waterparks, of course! This summer, why not venture outside of Halton a little bit and take a trip with your friends or family to one of the many excellent waterparks outside the region?

Here are five waterparks to visit this summer outside of the Halton Region!

5. Kidstown Water Park

Kidstown is known as one of Scarborough’s most popular outdoor water facilities for preschool and grade school children, making it perfect for family day trips! It offers numerous water features, including a tipping bucket, spray rings, water-spouting aquatic animals, a slide, wading pool, splash pads and more. Parents can also enjoy the grassy picnic area, which is perfect for watching older children while relaxing in the shade.

4. Wild Waterworks

Located in Hamilton, Wild Waterworks has loads of attractions for families to enjoy on a sunny day. The park features a massive outdoor pool, a wave pool, body and tube slides with twists and turns, and a play park for younger children. If you’d rather kick back and relax, there’s also a lazy river! You can also rent a cabana tent, providing a bit of shade and privacy while relaxing by the poolside. The park is open every day provided the weather is fair.

3. Splash Island: Toronto Zoo

Located in the Toronto Zoo’s Discovery Zone, Splash Island has two acres of waterslides, water-spouting animals, waterfalls, and tipping buckets. There is also a splash pad area for cooling off with misty water spouts. The best part about this park is the fact it’s at the Zoo. Families can visit the park after seeing the animals and the newly re-opened Kangaroo Walk-Thru. You can also learn about which plants and animals live in different bodies of water in Canada.

Located at Niagara Falls, this massive indoor park has 125,000 square feet of water-themed activities. It features an enormous play area with a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket, six-storey high waterslides, a full-sized wave pool, an outdoor activity pool and sundeck, a plunge bowl, and a children’s play area. Parents and older visitors can also enjoy the two oversized adult-only jacuzzis. If you ever get tired of playing in the water, you can visit the jungle beach playhouse or get a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants available.

1. Splash Works: Canada’s Wonderland

Slash Works is located in Canada’s Wonderland and features loads of attractions for visitors of all ages. The water park has 20-acres of water-themed fun, including the Muskoka Plunge, a 60-foot tall waterslide complex that has four adrenaline-pumping slides. Guests can go into the enclosed launch chamber and suddenly plummet into a high-speed free-fall through S-curves and 360deg loops at speeds reaching 40 km/h! Groups and families can ride together on The Plunge or Super Soaker, both fitting up to 4 people. There’s also the Riptide Racer, which lets up to eight people race down the lanes into the slash way.

Younger kids can also enjoy the Lakeside Lagoon, which features a shallow splash pool and tube slides. If you need a chance to relax after all the intense rides, you can visit White Water Bay, the park’s massive outdoor wave pool or take a trip down the quarter-mile-long Lazy River.
