You can now use augmented reality to order food for delivery to a park in Toronto

Floating food is now hidden in a park in Toronto, and if you can find it, you can order it straight to your sunny spot on the grass.
Well, it’s not real floating food, of course. Food order management platform Wenu Eat has pioneered a new augmented reality project that shows the images of floating food in Trinity Bellwoods on your phone.
You can order the food you see floating before you to be delivered to the park with a tap. All you have to do is download the app Elysium to automatically see the images.
Right now, the delivery project is starting off with popsicles, charcuterie, and most importantly, beer, but Wenu Eat is open to sharing the platform with any food entrepreneurs that can facilitate delivery to the park.
The beer is a Niagara craft lager called Latina, and the charcuterie is produced by a local startup.
“We showcased at Collision Conference in Toronto where we met Jon, the founder of Elysium, which is an AR app. All credit for this idea is due to him. I was an intrigued bystander during his demo and though it was very cool, all I could think about was Pokemon Go,” Wenu founder Johnny De Lima tells YourCityWithIN.com.
“He asked me what I do in an attempt to pitch me on potential use, and honestly I dismissed it and told him it’s cool but not useful for me. He again asked me what I do and I said I help independent food entrepreneurs sell food. This guy didn’t miss a beat! He immediately said, well, what if we set up floating food in the park that people could order?”
He’s hoping to continue with other augmented reality projects, like setting up AR “shelves” at big grocery stores showcasing independent products.
You can now order food to Trinity Bellwoods through the floating AR images every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
