Toronto Belgian waffle spot suddenly closes down permanently

A source for Belgian waffles in Toronto has suddenly shut down permanently without much notice.
Belgian Sweet Corner was a Kensington Market destination for those seeking a real taste of Belgium, serving waffles and chocolate. Their Liege waffles were made with imported premium pearl sugar that gave them their authentic crunch and caramelization.
They were served with all sorts of toppings, including ice cream, whipped cream, fruit, chocolate and even savoury options. The restaurant previously went by the name Lekker.
Customers were shocked to suddenly see the restaurant put up an Instagram text post beginning with the words, “This may come as a total surprise to some.”
“We should make no bones about it: it is with sadness and pain in our hearts that we have to announce the closure of Belgian Sweet Corner in Toronto,” reads the post. “This decision was not made lightly.”
Many people commented on the post saying how sad they were to hear the news of the closure and thanking them for all the waffles. As the post was a bit cryptic, people also flooded the comments asking whether they had closed effective immediately and if they’d be able to come in one last time.
A spokesperson only told YourCityWithIN that the restaurant was already closed as of last week.
