A popular ramen chain with locations in Toronto, Mississauga, and other Canadian cities recently announced that it is dropping its prices in response to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Today, Kinton Ramen said it would lower prices on its ramen bowls starting on April 29.
In a news release, the company said it was undertaking the “happiness in a bowl” initiative in response to “the growing economic challenges and widespread price increases affecting consumers in various sectors.”
According to Kinton’s website, the price of a bowl of pork ramen (just one example) will drop from $17 to $14.99.
“We understand the financial pressures facing our customers, and we are committed to supporting them by offering high-quality dining experiences at more affordable prices,” Daiki Takane, vice president of operations at Kinka Family, the parent company of Kinton Ramen, said in a statement.
“Our goal is to be a practical option in a challenging economic landscape, and this reduction exemplifies our commitment to that aim.”
Kinton said it is able to reduce prices because the growing company, which is expected to operate 45 restos by the end of the year, has been able to negotiate better prices with its vendors and make “strategic supply chain improvements.”
“The solutions underscore the ingenuity of our team,” Andrey Anuchin, senior director of procurement at Kinka Family, said in a statement.
“We’re discovering avenues to uphold our benchmarks while enhancing the accessibility of our meals. As a result, we can now share these savings with our customers and express our gratitude for their resilience amid the market fluctuations brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a steadfast customer, your support is deeply appreciated, and we eagerly anticipate crafting a memorable culinary experience together.”
The company says the reductions are tailored to each ramen bowl item and coincide with the introduction of Kinton’s spring and summer ramen menu.
