Popular pizza restaurant opening new spot next week

A popular pizza spot is gearing up to open a new restaurant next week, and it’s right next door.

In fact, the new spot right next to Danny’s Pizza Tavern is simply called Danny’s Next Door. They’re softly opening right now in anticipation of their official opening next week.

Especially since it’s next door, the space feels a little like an extension of Danny’s Pizza Tavern. There’s a similar whimsical sense of decor that evokes nostalgia, old school bistros and dive bars, with Seinfeld playing on the TV and stained glass light fixtures dangling above.

The extension feel applies to the menu as well as the space. The backbone of Next Door’s menu is basically the exact same “tavern pie” style pizzas they serve at the Tavern, including options like their Hawaiian and clam pizzas. Tavern pies are typically a little thinner and flatter, and are usually cut into squares instead of triangles.

When it comes to smaller plates on the menu, that’s where Next Door diverges a little more from the original Danny’s. You won’t find the Tavern’s popular mozzarella sticks next door, but you might find options like hot dogs and BLT’s made using pizza dough buns, plus other small plates like steak tartare and fish crudo. Still, you may find a few Danny’s small plates next door, like their shrimp cocktail and salads.

Similar to Danny’s Pizza Tavern, Danny’s Next Door is offering a cocktail list of classics like espresso martinis, Micheladas and Hurricanes.

Danny’s Next Door is officially opening their doors on May 14.
