Residents who like to stay on top of menu offerings at Hamilton restaurants might be happy to hear that a month-long culinary celebration will kick off today (Feb. 1) and run until the end of the month.
NOSH, a food event held by the city’s numerous business improvement area (BIA) associations, will run from Feb. 1 to Feb. 29.
Invest in Hamilton recently announced that the annual event, which was typically held during National Small Business Week in October before the pandemic, now allows diners to explore the offerings at dozens of different restaurants throughout February.
As for how the event works, organizers say that over the course of the month, diners can participate in various social media contests hosted by Hamilton BIAs.
Participating BIAs include the Ancaster Village BIA, the Barton Village BIA, the Concession BIA, the Downtown Hamilton BIA, the International Village BIA, the Locke Street BIA, the Ottawa Street BIA, the Stoney Creek BIA, the Waterdown Village BIA and the Westdale Village BIA.
Some restaurants participating in the event include the Ancaster Mill, Barton Salumeria, Dirty South, Fishing Sushi, Masala Grill, Lyn’s Caribbean Canadian Restaurant, Berkeley North, Bread Bar on James, The Diplomat, Mystic Ramen, Zen Lounge, Dim Sum House, Seasoned Restaurant, Delirious Burger Co., Democracy, Foyer, Peruviano, Boardwalk Cheesesteaks, Merk, Poke Co., Banana Leaf Asian Cuisine, Bliss Kitchen, Jitterbug Cafe, The Bean Bar, The Casual Gourmet and more.
The contest details will be shared on the BIAs’ official Instagram accounts, and the festivities will end with a Chef War on CH Morning Live on Feb. 26.
“In all, it is a way for our culinary scene to be supported and championed by Hamiltonians from Winona to Waterdown. As of last count, there were approximately 1,300 businesses across Hamilton’s BIAs,” organizers said in a news release.
Diners can also follow the #nosh2024 hashtag to see which drinks and meals are being featured on any given day.
While the event is ultimately designed to draw attention to local restaurants, the website says diners can win prizes. Diners who order from a participating restaurant, post a picture of their meal and mention the hashtag, the business and the BIA in their post could win a gift card.
“NOSH encourages support for local businesses by celebrating Hamilton’s food and drink economy, featuring a diverse showcase of the unique and innovative flavours representing the city,” Invest in Hamilton says on its website.
