A restaurant that’s been in business for nearly five years in Richmond Hill has just announced it’s closing down.
The Flying Fish just posted recently to social media saying “The Flying Fish has landed.”
The restaurant serves Japanese fusion food such as wafu pasta and sushi tacos. The same chef behind Flying Fish is also responsible for Hay Sushi.
“Four years. Countless memories. One last service,” reads a social media post from The Flying Fish.
“From sushi tacos to steak & pasta – you helped make this place more than just a restaurant.
It’s been real. It’s been delicious.”

“We tried for 4 years to get the zoning changed to expand our concept — wine pairings, sake dinners, and special events. But it never moved forward, and our team’s visions also started going in different directions. So we decided it was time to close this chapter,” a representative for Flying Fish tells YourCityWithIN.com.
Fortunately for Flying Fish fans, the chef is hoping to continue on with what he’s been doing in some other form. The restaurant commented on their own social media post saying, “We’re cooking up something new behind the scenes. If you stick around, we’ll be sharing some exciting updates — and maybe even something special just for our loyal followers. Stay tuned!”
“Whether he’ll continue with the current concept or create something entirely new, we’re not quite sure yet,” the rep tells YourCityWithIN.com. “For now, it looks like he’ll be taking a well-deserved break.”
The last day for The Flying Fish will be May 9.
