A bakery known for their plant-based and gluten-free offerings has just announced that after 13 years, they’re closing their doors.
Tori’s Bakeshop is known for their picture perfect cupcakes, pies, cakes, cinnamon buns and doughnuts, and offers gluten-free and plant-based options as well as cafe beverages. The shop took to social media to announce that they’ll be shutting down their storefront this month.
“After 13 years of baking with love, connection, and purpose, Tori’s Bakeshop on Queen East will close its doors,” reads a social media post from Tori’s.
“The building has been sold to new owners. This moment is bittersweet, but it also marks the beginning of something truly beautiful.”

They’re not exaggerating when it comes to that part. While the building being sold to new owners means the Tori’s storefront will be closing, it’s doing so for a noble purpose, transforming into something beneficial for the community.
“Our space will soon be home to a new non-profit café, Judy’s, with a powerful mission: to provide meaningful employment opportunities to people with disabilities and to create a welcoming environment where purpose, community, and inclusion can thrive,” reads the post.
The storefront will be closing, but not all is lost for lovers of gluten-free baked goods. Tori’s Bakeshop products will continue to be sold online, through GTA cafes and grocery stores, and at the new Judy’s.
The post from Tori’s has over 600 likes and over 60 comments on Instagram from people saying the shop will be missed and sharing over a decade of memories.
The last day for Tori’s Bakeshop on Queen East will be June 22.
