A beloved institution for tiki-themed cocktails is closing its original doors after 10 years in Toronto.
In an Instagram post from yesterday, ownership behind Parkdale’s The Shameful Tiki Room indicated that it would be closing up shop after a decade in operation in its established west end location.
“After nearly 10 unforgettable years filled with good times, laughter, first dates, celebrations, music, handcrafted cocktails, delicious food, heartfelt conversations, and—most importantly—a true sense of community, the time has come for us to say goodbye,” read the post.
The location became known as a neighbourhood hotspot for late nights, tropical vibes, and island-style cocktails so massive that they would often take two hands to hold.

While the news may appear sad to those who hold the location dear, it is important to note that this is not the end for The Shameful Tiki Room.
Earlier this year, ownership indicated that they would be taking the party only a few blocks away to 777 Queen Street West, with a grand opening scheduled for next month on June 7, 2025.
As for the Parkdale location, ownership was quick to look back on its neighbourhood impact and place in the community, as the post closed out with “To every single toast, story, and shared moment—we’ve built something truly special, and I’m so grateful to each and every one of you who’s been a part of this journey.”
